Wednesday, October 07
6:00pm - 7:00pm

Explore volunteer tasks, review available shifts, and ask questions before deciding whether to apply. Earn one SSL hour for full attendance. Application packets are provided after the session.

Find out how you could help prepare program materials, organize supplies, create signs, and support library activities. The Teen Librarian will explain the work and answer your questions. No previous volunteer experience is needed.

You must be in grades 9–12 and at least 13 years old.

School-Year Volunteer Shifts
Regular volunteers commit to a recurring two-hour shift. Available shift times are:

  • Monday–Friday: 4–6 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m.–noon or 3–5 p.m.

Consider which shifts fit your school, activities, and transportation arrangements.

How to Apply
Register for one of the two information sessions and attend the full hour. Returning volunteers must also attend a session and reapply.

After the session, teens who remain interested will receive an application packet with the deadline for returning the completed forms. Applicants under 18 need a parent or guardian signature.

Attendance does not guarantee a volunteer placement. Teens offered a placement must complete group task training and have the required signed paperwork on file. Staff will confirm when they may begin volunteering.

Earn one Student Service Learning (SSL) hour for attending the full information session.

Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.

If you plan to attend with a group of ten or more, please contact the branch at least one week before the program to discuss how your group might be accommodated.
