Creativity is a great way for kids to relax. Every month, kids will learn and explore a new type of art they can practice at home. Each month will focus on a new artist!

Art is a great way to regulate emotions and practice self care, especially for children, who are constantly growing and learning. This art program is designed to encourage creative discovery in children ages 8-12. Kids can practice different types of art as a way to relax and calm their busy minds. Participants will try all kinds of art inspired by artists from around the world, with each month’s program drawing inspiration from a different artist around the world. What will you discover?

This month’s artist is Yoshiko Iwamoto Wada. Learn more about her here and see some of her art!

This month, participants will learn about the Japanese art of shibori indigo dyeing.

Please note that this activity will take place outdoors. Participants should wear clothing that can get messy, as we will be using dye that stains.

We will provide all the materials for this program. This program was funded by the Friends of the Library Montgomery County.
