Montgomery County Public Libraries is excited to announce our first annual Local Author Book Showcase, coming Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM.  
Join us for a celebration of books, storytelling, and community!   

Event Details:  

• Date: November 22, 2025 
• Location: Wheaton Community Recreation Center, 11701 Georgia Ave, Wheaton MD, 20902 
• Time: 12:00PM-5:00PM 

Event Highlights: 

• Booksale sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, MD, Inc. 
• Author tables to meet and greet local writers 
• Passive activities, panels & discussions, and reading activities 
• Network with fellow writers and readers

Wheaton Social Hall (2nd Floor)

• 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM Read to a Zoo!
• 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM Create a Cozy Paper Village
• 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM Traditional vs. Self-Publishing Panel

Wheaton Gymnasium (1st Floor)

• Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, MD, Inc. Book Sale
• Passive StoryWalkTM for kids
• Local Author Meet-and-Greet with:

Interested in participating as a local author next year?

Though our author selection is finished for this year, consider submitting an application for next year. Space is limited, and only selected authors will be contacted with next steps in the Fall of 2026.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.

If you plan to attend with a group of ten or more, please contact the branch at least one week before the program to discuss how your group might be accommodated.

Accommodation Requests

People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing should request English-language captioning or sign-language interpretation at least five days before the library-sponsored program they plan to attend. Contact the Assistant Facilities and Accessibility Program Manager at 240-777-0002 with all other accommodation requests.
