Write What You Know: Transforming Experience into Story
Local Author Showcase 2026
Sunday, November 22
3:00pm - 3:45pm
Wheaton Community Recreation Center
Social Hall (2nd Floor)This thoughtful and inspiring panel asks local authors to explore how their real‑life experiences shape the stories they tell.
Join us for a thoughtful and inspiring panel where local authors explore how their real‑life experiences shape the stories they tell. In Write What You Know: Transforming Experience into Story, panelists will share how personal history, meaningful moments, challenges, and community connections have influenced their creative work and writing process.
Through open conversation, authors will discuss the ways lived experience becomes narrative, how memories evolve into characters, how environments inspire settings, and how identity and perspective inform storytelling. Attendees will gain insight into the intimate relationship between life and art, as well as encouragement for drawing upon their own stories in creative and empowering ways.
Perfect for aspiring writers, avid readers, and anyone curious about the craft behind compelling storytelling.

Though our author selection is finished for this year, consider submitting an application for next year. Space is limited, and only selected authors will be contacted with next steps in the Fall of 2027.
