STEM at the Library: Space Rocks!

Learn about asteroids, then put your detective skills to the test to see if you can find the secret space rocks hiding in our collection.

During our hands-on exploration, we'll identify the properties of asteroids, discuss how they form, and (weather permitting) learn how to measure "impact craters" using water balloons. Finally, we'll finish by crafting your very own asteroid to take home.

Activities will include some reading, writing, and math. Recommended for grades 2-5.

We will provide all the materials for this program.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.

If you plan to attend with a group of ten or more, please contact the branch at least one week before the program to discuss how your group might be accommodated.
