Raúl Armando Zurita Canessa (born January 10, 1950) is a Chilean poet known for his innovative and politically engaged works. Zurita survived imprisonment and torture during the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, experiences that deeply influenced his poetry. Zurita was awarded the Chilean National Prize for Literature, a scholarship from the Guggenheim Foundation, and he has held poetry readings at numerous American universities including Harvard, Yale, Stanford and Berkeley. His books in English translation include Anteparadise, Purgatory, INRI, and Song for His Disappeared Love. He lives in Chile.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program.
