For August's meeting, we will be discussing The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler

An iconic hardboiled detective, Philip Marlowe, is hired by a dying millionaire to handle a blackmailer, leading him into a complex web of murder, blackmail, and family secrets in 1930s Los Angeles. Known for its intricate plot, atmospheric setting, and Chandler's distinctive, witty prose, the book is a cornerstone of crime fiction, exploring themes of corruption and mortality, with the title itself referring to death. 

Print copies will be available at the circulation desk beginning approximately one month before the discussion. You may also be able to borrow this title in eBook and eAudiobook formats through MCPL's digital services (such as Libby/OverDrive and Hoopla, where available).
