25-30 minutes of music, movement, and a themed story (usually singable) for young children to teach early literacy skills and healthy habits and have fun! *Ticketed event*
Tickets will be handed out, first-come first-served, at the children's desk starting at 10:00 prior to the program. Space is limited.
Another session will be held at 11:15 to allow as many people as possible to attend. Please choose one session. Drop-in play will be held after the SECOND session, at 11:45.
Come to Music & Movement at the library!
It's a cross between a storytime and a dance party.
The program is targeted to toddlers and preschoolers. Babies are welcome at the program! But, please know that we use recorded music and it will be louder and more high energy than our Baby Storytimes.
Other than LOTS of singing and dancing, we sometimes use props like scarves, ribbons, and shakers. We always end with bubbles. And I will share a singable book somewhere in the middle!
Music and movement teach the early literacy skills of listening and following directions, anticipation, and rhyming. Moving to music helps children exhaust pent-up energy, builds self-confidence and a positive self-image.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.
