Studio 3Whether you're looking to start cosplaying or just want to level up your existing costumes without spending a fortune, this workshop will provide you with the knowledge to create cosplay on a budget.
This workshop is designed to guide both beginner and experienced cosplayers on how to create impressive costumes without breaking the bank. Hosted by professional cosplayer, Maki Roll, this session will explore clever techniques and creative solutions for cosplaying on a budget, covering everything from fabric selection to props and accessories.
What to Expect:
- Budget-Friendly Materials: Maki Roll will demonstrate how to use affordable materials like foam, thrifted clothing, and upcycled objects to craft high-quality cosplay pieces.
- Tips & Tricks: Learn how to save money while still achieving the perfect look through DIY methods, including fabric painting, low-cost tools, and easy pattern-making.
- Efficient Sourcing: Maki will provide tips on finding inexpensive cosplay supplies at local stores, online marketplaces, or even in your own home.
- Cosplay Construction: A hands-on portion where Maki will walk through the step-by-step process of making a costume, showing how to approach it from design to completion on a budget.
- Prop-Making on a Budget: Maki will also demonstrate techniques for creating durable and realistic props without using expensive materials.
- Personalized Advice: Attendees will have the opportunity to ask Maki Roll for advice on their own cosplay projects, especially if they're working with limited funds.
Maki Roll's experience and unique approach to cost-effective crafting will ensure you leave with fresh inspiration and practical skills to take on your next cosplay challenge.
Seating is limited and will be available first-come-first-serve for the first 40 attendees.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.
