Sheila Oak Maggin, will be providing an interactive dance presentation about India and its celebratory culture highlighting music and dance.

You will hear a brief introduction of India, explaining how each one varies with languages and dances.

Sheila Oak Maggin, is a classical trained dancer in the Northern Indian Classical form of Kathak which dates back to 500 BCE. She was the first noted dancer to complete her formal graduation on the entire East Coast of this unique dance form in 2002.  Sheila is also a noted Bollywood, Middle Eastern, and Hip Hop trained dancer and received her minor in dance from George Mason University. She currently is finance professional and also manages all 150 students in the Kathak and MD Bollywood branches of Rhythmaya.

Rhythmaya has created a wonderful program that educates all ages (especially children and their parents, a great event for the whole family to attend) about a rich cultural that has incorporates the best of both worlds: traditional and modern elements of the India. Music, dance and the arts in general have a special way of bringing people together. The library is a place where people feel safe to try something new and open their minds up. This is truly a bonding experience for all.

Sponsored by Friends of the Library, Montgomery County.
