She will lead a frank discussion about what to expect and how to prepare for this important milestone in your college experience. Program is intended for high school juniors and seniors. Parents/caregivers are encouraged to attend!
About Valarie R. Austin: Lieutenant Colonel Austin, Retired, U.S. Army, is a career and college readiness author, blogger and trainer. Her college readiness book, The Student's Comprehensive Guide for College & Other Life Lessons, is available for checkout from MCPL. Valarie is a prolific and successful professional speaker. She has presented career and college readiness workshops to high school students, college students and parents at public libraries, career/college fairs, high schools, sorority events and other venues. She has supported military veterans as a featured speaker for servicemember centric organizations such as Uplift Energy Coaching, the DANTES 5th Annual DOD Voluntary Education Professional Development Institute and the 2021 VeteransBizUp! Conference, providing career development guidance. Valarie has been interviewed for the TrailblazersImpact.com, Maryland STEM Festival, Wealth Academy and the Phil Shapiro Book Review Podcasts. She is a member of the Maryland Writers’ Association, Toastmasters International and the Maryland Career Development Association.
