Adult Art Afternoon: Bold Geometry & Color – Inspired by Carmen Herrera- In-person

Discover the bold geometric art of Carmen Herrera! Join us for a fun, casual painting session using simple tape and acrylics to create your own abstract piece. All supplies provided.

Explore the striking world of geometric minimalism in this relaxed, hands-on painting session celebrating Cuban-American artist Carmen Herrera (1915–2022). Herrera spent decades perfecting a style defined by crisp lines, balanced shapes, and vivid, high-contrast colors that make a bold statement through simplicity.

Come try your hand at her signature hard-edge style. We will use simple painter's tape techniques and acrylic paints on canvas board so everyone can create their own clean, eye-catching abstract art piece to take home. This program is designed for adults age 18 and over. It is not designed for children.

Event Details

Skill Level: Casual and beginner-friendly — no artistic experience necessary!
Materials: All painting supplies are provided by the library.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.
