Teen-Plus Chess Group - In-person

A welcoming chess meetup for middle schoolers, teens, emerging adults, and adults. Learn, practice, and play with peers and NWHS volunteers. No registration required.

Join us for an engaging and skill‑building chess program designed specifically for middle school students, high school students, emerging adults, and adults. The Teen‑Plus Chess Group is a welcoming, age‑appropriate space where players can learn, practice, and sharpen their strategies alongside peers and mentors.

This program is offered in partnership with dedicated student volunteers from Northwest High School, who will be on hand to teach fundamentals, support developing players, and challenge experienced participants. Whether you’re brand‑new to the game or already seasoned, you’ll have the opportunity to match up with chess players at your own level.

Drop in anytime between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM—no registration required. Come enjoy a friendly, fun, and focused chess environment created for older students and adults. We look forward to seeing your next great move!

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.

If you plan to attend with a group of ten or more, please contact the branch at least one week before the program to discuss how your group might be accommodated.
