Dementia Care Information Program - In-person
June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month

4:00pm - 5:00pm
Amaka Andrews, a Certified Dementia Prof. with extensive experience, will present a workshop to help families better understand aging, dementia, and practical ways to support their family members.
The program will focus on topics such as:
* Understanding normal aging vs. dementia
* Communication strategies for individuals with memory loss
* Practical ways to support independence and dignity
* Reducing caregiver stress and burnout
* Community resources available to families
Ms. Andrews has worked in the field of aging and dementia support, and has several years of experience supporting older adults and individuals living with memory-related conditions in homes, assisted living, and community-based settings. In addition to the CDP, she has also completed Alzheimer's Association Training & Certification, and has Johns Hopkins Dementia Care Specialist Certification. She also has a Master's Degree in Industrial and Labor Relations.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.
If you plan to attend with a group of ten or more, please contact the branch at least one week before the program to discuss how your group might be accommodated.

People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing should request English-language captioning or sign-language interpretation at least five days before the library-sponsored program they plan to attend.
