A young author from the Shout Mouse Press anthology 'Bright Before Us Like a Flame' will discuss their journey to authorship, read their writing, and discuss the importance of sharing their story.

Bright Before Us Like a Flame is an anthology containing 10 years of youth writing published by Shout Mouse Press, a DC-based non-profit that coaches young people from marginalized communities to write and share their stories. Themes explored in Bright Before Us include immigration, queerness, masculinity, home, self-love, and many others. For this event, an author whose work was chosen for inclusion in Bright Before Us will discuss their journey to authorship, read their writing, and discuss the importance of sharing their story as a youth from a marginalized community. There will be time for audience Q&A.
