Hatchlings Parent Workshop at Wheaton Library!

Expectant & new parents, please join us for a 3-session workshop (10/30, 11/6, 11/13) to learn ways to support baby's development with playful early learning activities. Register once for all three.

Please note: Wheaton Library and Community Recreation Center is a shared facility.  Registrants should report to the Multipurpose Room (Room 132), on the main floor, in the Grand Lobby, near the staircase.

Grow with Baby! Hatchlings Parent Workshop is an interactive early literacy program for new and expectant parents. In this interactive program, you will learn about supporting your baby's development with books, songs, rhymes, and fun activities you and baby can do together.   

This workshop will run approximately one hour, with an optional 30 minutes after the workshop for socialization with other participants, and for interaction with library staff and other county services. We encourage you to arrive 10 minutes early to get comfortable with the space. 

Registration is required, and space is limited to expectant parents and families with babies 0-4 months old: only one registration per family is necessary to reserve your spot. Please register just once for all three sessions. 

Families who attend will receive a FREE tote bag that includes a book, a toy, and a song book!   

This three-session series is designed for expectant families and babies 0-4 months and their parents/guardians. Each interactive session is designed to stimulate babies' learning process, and each session builds on the previous session. 

Each session will have a different focus for families:  

• Session 1: Baby’s Brain - Thursday, October 30 
• Session 2: Read, Talk and Sing with Baby - Thursday, November 6
• Session 3: Building a Routine - Thursday, November 13

FUN FACTS: Reading and singing help your baby's brain and language development. Reciting nursery rhymes and singing songs help your baby get ready to read. Babies who have been exposed to books and reading grow up to become children who perform better in school.  

This workshop is made possible with the help of the Friends of the Library, Montgomery County and Mother Goose on the Loose.
