Chess at Rockville Memorial Library - In-person

The Rockville Chess Club will host matches on Sundays, open to the public from 4:00pm to 5:50pm.

The Rockville Chess Club are presenting this event, from 4:00 pm to 5:50 pm. The Rockville Chess Club is a small group of chess enthusiasts that gather regularly to learn and play. Players of all skill levels are welcomed, beginners to masters, and all age ranges. You will be able to play against others of similar age and skill. This event is an opportunity learn and master chess and promote growth and collaboration. There are two sessions to this program:

4:00 pm - 5:50 pm Informal chess (Open to all)

Please bring your chess set and clock if you have them, but you are still welcome without them.  Kids under the age of 14 years old must be accompanied by a parent (adult).  

1:00 pm - 5:50 pm Rated Tournament/Ladder Game (1 Game), with a time control of G/120. – Must be USCF member. Read more about the USCF

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.

If you plan to attend with a group of ten or more, please contact the branch at least one week before the program to discuss how your group might be accommodated.

Accommodation Requests

People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing should request English-language captioning or sign-language interpretation at least five days before the library-sponsored program they plan to attend. Contact the Assistant Facilities and Accessibility Program Manager at 240-777-0002 with all other accommodation requests.
