The VITA program offers free tax preparation assistance, by appointment, to families with income less than $58,000 and persons with disabilities, including taxpayers with limited English.
IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals on Sundays from 1:30-4pm. This service is by appointment. To request an appointment, call Community Tax Aid at 202-830-1480 or send an email to "appointments@communitytaxaiddc.org". Occasionally, walk-in appointments are available. You can check with the tax volunteers after 2pm on Sundays for availability. To receive tax preparation assistance, please bring all related documents to the appt., including photo ID and Social Security Card or ITIN letter for everyone listed on the tax return. This location is overseen by Community Tax Aid. The program will be held in the Multipurpose Room, Rm. 312. Please enter via the building lobby through the second door on the left past the staircase. No appts. on Sunday, February 18 (Presidents Day weekend) or Sunday, March 31 (Easter) - Library Closed.

Accommodation Requests
People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing should request English-language captioning or sign-language interpretation at least five days before the library-sponsored program they plan to attend. Contact the Assistant Facilities and Accessibility Program Manager at 240-777-0002 with all other accommodation requests.
