Nowruz is the New Year festival welcomed with music, food, and a spirit of renewal, celebrated by over 300 million people across the Balkans, the Black Sea Basin, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East, South Asia, and diaspora communities worldwide.
We'll be welcoming this cultural event in the Social Hall of the Wheaton Recreation Center with traditional cuisine, music, dance, reflection, and activities for all ages!
Our facilitator, Vusal Guliyev, is a community organizer and education professional with a background in international relations and cultural programming. Originally from Azerbaijan, he has worked for several years in the field of international education and cross-cultural engagement. Vusal is passionate about building bridges between communities through cultural events, educational initiatives, and public dialogue. He currently resides in Montgomery County and is actively involved in promoting cultural awareness and community connection through programs such as the Nowruz Cultural Celebration.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.
If you plan to attend with a group of ten or more, please contact the branch at least one week before the program to discuss how your group might be accommodated.
