This month's title is There, There By Tommy Orange, an award winning book and this year's “One Maryland One Book.”
The book discussion group meets the first Monday of each month at 12:00 PM. The title for this month is There, There By Tommy Orange, the “One Maryland One Book”. Published in 2018, There There tells the interconnected stories of a cast of twelve Native characters from across generational lines, as they converge toward the Big Oakland Powwow. Together, the stories give a riveting portrait of the urban Indian experience. October 9th is Indigenous Peoples Day!
One Maryland One Book is overseen by Maryland Humanities, a statewide, educational nonprofit organization that creates and supports bold experiences that explore and elevate our shared stories to connect people, enhance lives, and enrich communities. The program is most likely meeting inside, but bring a lawn chair or blanket, in case the weather is good.
