Learn How to Play Mah Jongg - In-person

Register for the 4-part Introductory Course!

Have you wondered how mah jongg is played? Now you can learn! Join us for a four-session class led by Deborah Bloch, an avid mah jongg player. This event is held with The Villages of Kensington.

Mah jongg is a tile-based game developed in the 19th century in China. It has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. Similar to the Western card game, Rummy, mah jongg is a game of skill, strategy, and luck.

In this class, you will learn American standard mah jongg according to National Mah Jongg League rules.

Interested parties who own mah jongg tile sets are welcome to bring their sets to the class.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.

If you plan to attend with a group of ten or more, please contact the branch at least one week before the program to discuss how your group might be accommodated.
