Joram Piatigorsky, an award-winning scientist at NIH since 1967, switched to writing fiction and other genres upon retirement. Participating in workshops followed by being a board member at The Writer’s Center were invaluable for his transition to writing. Mr. Piatigorsky will discuss how the process of writing and science have unexpected similarities and the importance of recognizing how humanities can affect basic research in science.
His three novels and other writings also explore how imagination affects our interpretations of what we see and hear and feel, as well as our concept of reality. His soon to be published novel (Uncertain Lives) is about the role of imagination in the uncertainty of reality and experiences.
