Join us every second and third Wednesday morning for a 1-hour instructor-led chair yoga session; no registration required. Geared towards older adults but all are welcome!
Please join us for a new health and fitness class geared towards older adults -- although all are welcome! This 1-hour class will consist of:
1. Bollywood Dance for Fitness:
Memory enhancement, balance, motor coordination and learning an art;
2. Laughter Fitness:
for healthy lungs, heart and brain;
3. Chair-fitness:
for healthy bones and joints.
Instructor: Mrs. Kumud Mathur is trained in Kathak, the classical and folk dances of India. She has been performing and teaching dance in the Metro Washington area for many years. She is a mathematician by profession and worked for the US Army. She teaches dance and Tabla (Indian drums) in her spare time. She has taught dance at the University of Maryland, as well as for Rockville City and Montgomery County MD. In order to establish that the dance is the best form of an aerobic exercise, Kumud formed Dance to Health (DTH) Society in 1990 and designed Indian dancing in an exercise format. Since then, she has been performing and demonstrating the DTH program for various health organizations and universities.
No mat required and chairs will be provided.
