Join us for a presentation with education policy expert Dick Jung.
Join us for a talk by education policy expert, Dick Jung, on lessons from his extensive career in leading schools and from his book, Mike Kirst: An Uncommon Academic on April 17, 2-3 pm.
Drawing from his half-a-century of working on education reform in California, including with Mike Kirst and Jerry Brown, Dick will speak on practical and important lessons for the future of education. We will learn about public, public charter, and independent schools, in general and in Montgomery County, and discuss the future of education in America.
Dick began his career more than 50 years ago as a high school English teacher and Department Chair, then as an education policy researcher, followed by a 30+ year career leading independent and charter schools, and finally as a biographer. Dick holds a doctorate and a master’s degree from Stanford University in education policy; a master’s degree in linguistics from Ball State University; and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Jung is Head of School Emeritus, The Bullis School, founder and senior partner of Education Access Strategies (EAS) specializing in executive searches and related services for independent schools, and the former Executive Director of The Association of Independent Schools of Greater Washington, which includes more than 75 of the largest private schools in the D.C area, including Montgomery County.
This talk is co-sponsored with Bethesda Metro Area Village and open to the public. There will be ample time for questions. Mike Kirst: An Uncommon Academic is available through MCPL. BMAV is a neighborhood nonprofit supporting community members who choose to age in place with volunteer and social support.
