Learn with SPARK! This January and February in our celebration of Career Success Month and Library Lovers Month for teens, earn SSL, enjoy snacks and learn from an incredible variety of practical SPARK Business Academy workshops, on special Wednesdays in our large 3rd Floor Meeting Room at McGee Library!

No registration needed to attend, drop-ins welcome!

For SSL, help design future teen programs & help with cleanup/takedown after the workshops!

Doors open at 4:00 PM, workshops' runtime is 4:15 PM - 5:15 PM.

SPARK's innovative programs give students an opportunity to learn by doing in a supportive environment! Teens can take part in the following workshops:

Wednesday, January 7th: Personal Finance
Learn how to manage your money in this program promoting essential life skills!
Set financial goals, develop a budget from scratch, and learn the dangers of debt!

Wednesday, January 14th: Budding Entrepreneurs
This program empowers students with an entrepreneurial mindset!
Develop a plan for your very own business, and learn skills in marketing, finance and strategy.

Wednesday, January 21st: Aspiring Fashionistas
Dive into the exciting world of fashion design, branding, and style trends!
Gain hands-on experience and learn what it takes to make it in the world of fashion!

Wednesday, February 11th: Resume and Career Success
This practical program focuses on career exploration and employment readiness!
Learn to draft a resume, write a compelling cover letter and prep for interviews.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.

If you plan to attend with a group of ten or more, please contact the branch at least one week before the program to discuss how your group might be accommodated.

Accommodation Requests

People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing should request English-language captioning or sign-language interpretation at least five days before the library-sponsored program they plan to attend.
