Scams are everywhere, and some young adults may be tempted by get rich quick investment pitches shared by “finfluencers” or celebrities on social media. During this session, young people will learn how to spot the red flags of investment fraud and keep their money safe.

For ages 14-18.

Erin Scheithe serves the public as an Investor Communications Specialist in the Office of Investor Education and Advocacy at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. In this role she conducts outreach in fulfillment of the SEC’s mission to inform and protect investors. Prior to joining the SEC, Erin worked for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, AARP, the North Carolina Bankers Association, and the American Bankers Association. Erin earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Virginia.
