In his debut book, The Apprenticeship That Saved My Life, Maryland Senator Cory V. McCray blends his personal journey — from the streets of Baltimore to journeyman electrician to the Maryland Senate.
How do we create real pathways to opportunity? In his debut book, The Apprenticeship That Saved My Life, Maryland Senator Cory V. McCray, blends his personal journey — from the streets of Baltimore to journeyman electrician to the Maryland Senate — with a practical guide on how mentorship, skilled trades, and second chances can change lives. This program will share lessons learned, strategies for opening doors, and a candid conversation on turning grit into opportunity. The session will include a discussion, audience Q&A, and reflections on how communities can build stronger pathways for the next generation. The conversation will be moderated by Maryland Delegate Jheanelle Wilkins.
