Celebrate World Hijab Day and learn about this unique Muslim tradition. Attendees have the opportunity to participate in a demonstration and try on a hijab/scarf while supplies last.
World Hijab Day's stated purpose is to encourage women of all religions and backgrounds to experience and wear the Hijab. Mrs. Samira Hussein, a founder of Arab American Heritage Month, and Dr. Safa Hozien, long time educator and equity advocate, will be on hand to provide information on the history and cultural aspects of the hijab, and answer any questions you may have. Drop in any time between 2 pm - 3:30 pm and volunteers will help you try on a brand new hijab which you can then keep. This program is co-sponsored by the Teen Advisory Board and the Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, Inc.
