Come have your child read books one-on-one with a trained volunteer!

Join us at White Oak Library to celebrate a love of literacy this summer by reading one-on-one with previously selected JCA Interages volunteers. Children can bring their own book or select one from the library. JCA volunteers are vetted and trained by JCA staff in communication and intergenerational interactions. This weekly program runs for 5 weeks, from July 9 to August 6, 2024.

This is an independent reading program. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to let their child read independently with the volunteer and must remain in the library building during the program.

For children entering preschool through 3rd grade. Children attending a MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. No registration needed. Participants can just drop-in.

In collaboration with the Jewish Council for the Aging (JCA) Heyman Interages Center.

Preregistration begins May 15. Log activities from June 14 – August 31, 2024.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.
