Aspiring spies and detectives in Grades 4-6: pick up and read "Chester Keene Cracks the Code" ahead of time and join us tonight to discuss it and crack a code and solve a mystery of our own!
Enter the world of tweenage mystery and espionage tonight as we discuss how one literary set of amateur sleuths solved a puzzle and then take on a couple of challenges of our own!
No Shelf Control is a new book club this year for students in Grades 4-6 who love to read and have fun talking about books and characters! Tonight we'll be discussing Kekla Magoon's elementary school whodunit "Chester Keene Cracks the Code," currently a nominee for the Maryland Association of School Librarian's Black-Eyed Susan Award for Children's Literature. You can borrow a copy (with a specially prepared reading guide just for our group) from the Connie Morella Library; just ask at the Check Out or Information Desks for the March book for No Shelf Control. You can also access the book as an e-book or audiobook on Libby/Overdrive (it is not currently available in any format through Hoopla). If you get an e-version, please contact Mr. Jeff for the reading guide (jeffrey.coster@montgomerycountymd.gov). Even if you are not able to finish the reading, please come anyway and see if No Shelf Control might just be the place for you! The book for the April 10 meeting will be handed out tonight, and then available to pick up from the Connie Morella Library by anyone who missed it.
Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.
