In the Teen Room, 3rd Floor. Mr. Vargas will discuss songwriting tips and principles, as well as career paths and the application of songwriting skills to business and employment.
Does music creativity inspire you? Are you interested in writing your own Hip-Hop lyrics but don’t know how to start or finish a song? Come and join us to learn fundamental songwriting skills to help you craft a piece that speaks to you, your experiences, and your emotions. Songwriter’s Workshop – (12:30pm – 1:30pm, in the Teen Room, 3rd floor) Spend an hour with local legend Von Vargas, an artist, DJ, producer, and streetwear designer from Baltimore, MD ( https://msac.org/directory/artists/von-vargas , http://www.vonvargas.com/ ). Mr. Vargas will discuss songwriting tips and principles with the audience, as well as career paths and the application of songwriting skills to business and employment. We hope aspiring artists and/or business people of all genres and generations will come spend some time with an artist who is “the real deal,” an award-winning and very experienced professional in the business of song-writing, a trustee of the organization that selects GRAMMY award-winners, a teacher, a writer, and producer of hip-hop music. We may even test your skills with an exercise or two. We are grateful for the Songwriter’s Association of Washington ( http://www.saw.org/ ), who helped connect us with Mr. Vargas, and the Friends of the Library, Montgomery County ( http://www.folmc.org/ ) who are funding this workshop and other aspects of Vinyl Record Day. Registration is Required.
