Irene Bobs loves to drive fast and her husband is an excellent car salesman. Together they enter the 1954 Redex Trial - a car race to see who can circle the entire continent of Australia first. During their weeks of racing, they leave the comfortable areas they know as home and venture into parts of Australia that had been occupied by a timeless culture until white people arrived.
