October 9 would have been John Lennon's 80th birthday if he were alive. To mark this occasion, Sibbie O'Sullivan, author of "My Private Lennon:Explorations from a Fan Who Never Screamed" will join us.

My Private Lennon: Explorations from a Fan Who Never Screamed offers a new point of view from which to consider the Beatles’ impact on society and on the individual. In a series of linked autobiographical essays that explore the musical, cultural, and personal aspects of intense music fandom, Sibbie O’Sullivan dismantles the grand narrative of the fifteen-year-old hysterical female Beatles fan and replaces it with an introspective and often humorous tale about how the band shaped her intellectual and artistic development. Critically acclaimed, My Private Lennon was recently chosen by the Association of University Presses as one of the 100 best books published by university presses. Sibbie O'Sullivan is a retired Senior Lecturer in the Honors College at the University of Maryland, a book reviewer for The Washington Post, specializing in music, culture, and the arts, and a long-time Montgomery County resident and Wheaton Library user. There will be an opportunity for Q & A, and comments.

For security reasons, this program session will be locked 10 minutes after it begins. Please log in promptly.
