Information about how & why children need out of home placement, what foster parenting involves, requirements & licensing, & positive and encouraging stories about the impact of foster care.

The goal of this information meeting is to reach the community regarding how and why children need out of home placement, what foster parenting  involves, the requirements and licensing process, and to provide positive, encouraging stories and information about the impact a foster family can have.

Our foster families are doing a heroic job of parenting vulnerable children through this pandemic.  Like all heroes though, there is a personal sacrifice made to meet the needs of others.  Montgomery County always needs more foster families, but this is especially true now, so that we are ready to meet the anticipated needs while not overburdening our current families.

It is safe to assume that the stress and anxiety that all families are feeling, makes children increasingly vulnerable, with none of the usual safety nets in place.   The impact of COVID-19 does not spare anyone, and children in our community will be greatly impacted by the ramifications of parent’s stress, illness, death, job loss, food insecurity, homelessness, and numerous other ways this is ravaging our community.  There is a high potential, once the quarantine is lifted, for calls to come flooding into the hotline.  We need to be prepared.  In order to do that, we need to have safe, loving families available to be a resource for children needing out of home care.
