Learn about spiders: A live animal science visit from Village Edu!!
Monday, November 02
12:00pm - 1:00pm
Kids will interact with and see true spiders, tarantulas, scorpions, and play games, including a UV scavenger hunt! Learn how spiders and other arachnids use silk, hunt prey, and defend themselves.
Bethesda's Village Edu runs live animal science education programs and will visit Little Falls on this no-school day (for MCPS students) to teach us about spiders and other arachnids at the end of the scariest time of the year!
From the Village Edu website: Arachnids, and specifically spiders, are an incredibly diverse group that are greatly misunderstood. This program explores different kinds of arachnids and true spiders, revealing what makes each species so special. Topics include the many ways spiders use silk, from hunting webs to nursery chambers, along with their hunting strategies and the clever methods they use to defend themselves. It's a program that turns a common fear into genuine fascination.
Creatures featured: tarantulas, fishing spiders, huntsmans, jumping spiders, curtain web weavers, black widows, and more.
*Tickets will be handed out, first-come first-served on the morning of the event. Space is limited.*
Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Montgomery County.
