Space Rock Sherlock
Saturday, September 19
2:00pm - 3:00pm
Learn to identify rocks by what they look like and how hard they are!
Is it granite? Is it limestone? Or maybe something else? This fun mystery program helps elementary school-age kids learn how to tell rocks apart by using common laboratory methods. Learn how different rocks look under a microscope and react to hardness tests and magnets.
We will provide all materials for this program. Space is limited and tickets will be available 30 minutes prior to the program at the desk in the children's area. Please note, admittance will end 10 minutes after the start time of this program.
This program is for 1st through 5th grade. Participants under the age of 8 MUST be accompanied by an adult for the entirety of the program.
This program has been generously sponsored by Science Across America, a HHMI Tangled Bank Studios and STAR Net campaign to help libraries highlight the history of scientific achievement in our country, and increase awareness of local connections to science in our communities.
