Breastfeeding & the Return to Work
Virtual
Thursday, September 10
12:00pm - 1:00pm
Join MoCo Lactation and Stephanie Weinberg as we discuss the transition from maternity leave to returning work for breastfeeding mothers.
By the end of this program, parents will have a better understanding of the rights breastfeeding mothers have when they return to at their workplace (even your home office), how to prepare for the logistics of this return, and helpful tips and tricks for making the transition/separation process easier.
*While this program refers to “breastfeeding” and “mothers”, it is intended to be inclusive to all families and parents, including those who identify as the birthing parent and prefer to use the term chestfeeding to describe feeding their baby from their breasts/chest.
Legal protections exist to help parents maintain milk supply while away from their children, but not enough workers understand their rights or where to go when those rights are violated. (A Better Balance). A study published in 2021 concluded "Work status negatively impacted breastfeeding for ≥12 months." (Returning to Work and Breastfeeding Duration at 12 Months, WIC Infant and Toddler Feeding Practices Study-2, https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10898507/)
About the presenter: Stephanie Weinberg is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, the highest credential available to lactation. Stephanie left her 15 year career in technology in 2019 to pursue a career in lactation and launched her private practice MoCo Lactation in 2024.
