Middle School Virtual Book Club

in collaboration with JCA Heyman Interages Center

Students entering grades 7, 8, and 9 are invited to join a 4 week discussion of Alone by Megan E. Freeman.

Students who are ENTERING grades 7, 8, and 9 are invited to join a 4 week discussion of Alone by Megan E. Freeman. Participants will be joined by senior volunteers from the JCA Heyman Interages Center, bringing together readers of a wide age range to develop book evaluation and discussion skills. Attendance at all 4 sessions plus completion and presentation of a Reflection project will earn students 8 SSL hours. 

Alone is a gripping novel-in-verse perfect for fans of Hatchet and the I Survived series about the aftermath of a mysterious overnight evacuation of everyone in town except twelve-year-old Maddie. Left alone in a world without electricity or the internet, with just a dog named George and as many books as she can read, the book begins 3 years into her lonely struggle to survive this upside world and the loneliness and sheer fear it brings.

Registration is required and is limited to 12 participants, who must meet grade level requirements.
