Uncovering the Past with Locust Grove Nature Center
at Gaithersburg Library
Tuesday, August 11
3:00pm - 4:30pm
Learn how the curiosity of a 12-year-old led to an amazing discovery, and how that discovery inspired staff to dig into the past of Locust Grove Nature Center and Cabin John Regional Park.
The truth is amazing things are found all the time in nature, often by children. From bones, shells, and feathers to pottery, bricks and old glass, there’s no telling what you might discover along the trails. But what do we do when we find something interesting? Join a naturalist from Locust Grove to hear the story and learn how to nature journal like a naturalist.
All ages are welcome, but the journaling activity is best for those 8 – 99 as the participants will get to journal and observe real items and artifacts from the Nature Center’s collection. Parents/caregivers MUST accompany children under 8 during this program.
