The Benefits of Encore Singing for Seniors - In-person
Learn about the health benefits of the Encore progra
Wednesday, June 10
1:00pm - 2:30pm
Encore Creativity for Older Adults is the largest choral music program for older adults in the US. It was started in 2007 to address the mental and physical health benefits of singing in older adults.
Dr. Sandra Quinn is the chair of Encore’s Arts & Health Research Committee and led a recent national study into the health benefits derived by seniors engaged in the Encore program. She will discuss study results that focus on social connection, loneliness, life satisfaction and health. She will also present visual snippets of Encore practices and performances.
All adults over 55 years of age are welcome to join an Encore program regardless of singing or musical experience. Auditions are NOT required! Singers will learn vocal technique, proper breathing, and posture during their engagement with the program.
