1:00pm - 3:00pm

Jeff Gruenwald, a volunteer with the Montgomery County's Area Agency on Aging, will discuss communicating with people who have dementia and resources for caregivers in Montgomery County.

More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia. More than 11 million Americans provide unpaid care for a family member or friend living with dementia. All of us are likely to encounter individuals afflicted with these diseases in our family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, or when just walking down the street or shopping at the grocery store.

This discussion is part of Montgomery County's Dementia Friendly initiative, which aims to make our community "dementia friendly", meaning all members of society are welcoming and understanding of what dementia is, what it looks like, and how to interact and keep those with dementia continued valued members of society.
