That’s Debatable – The Olney Library Debate Club - In-person

Debates provide essential skills for students. It helps them build confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and fosters collaboration and respect for their peers. Through debate training, students learn to communicate confidently and effectively, think critically, and work together as a team. In the long run, these skills not only benefit them academically but also in their personal and even future professional lives.
NOTE: This a three session Debate Club. Attendance to all three is encouraged but not required.
Meeting time is 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Location will be in the Program Room.
June 24: Topic -Technology & Media
July 22: Topic - School & Education
August 26: Ethics & Everyday Life
At each session fun and quirky subjects will also be debated – salty snacks vs sweet snacks, cats vs dogs, etc.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.
If you plan to attend with a group of ten or more, please contact the branch at least one week before the program to discuss how your group might be accommodated.
Accommodation Requests
People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing should request English-language captioning or sign-language interpretation at least five days before the library-sponsored program they plan to attend. Contact the Assistant Facilities and Accessibility Program Manager at 240-777-0002 with all other accommodation requests.
