Get a jump-start on a healthy, sustainable lawn this summer.
Join Eric Wenger from the Master Gardeners of Montgomery County Cooperative Extension Service as he teaches us sustainable lawncare for our climate.
Prepping a lawn in Maryland focuses on building healthy soil and using best management practices for cool-season grasses, with an emphasis on protecting the Chesapeake Bay by reducing fertilizer runoff. Key actions include soil testing, aerating compacted clay, overseeding with turf-type tall fescue in early fall (Aug 20–Oct 15), and maintaining high mowing heights.
