Gardeners of all experience levels are invited to join as we discuss what is important this spring as you get ready to start (or continue) your vegetable gardens. We will talk about what guides us in knowing when and what we can grow, tips for planning garden layouts and spaces for successful yields, what you should be doing to prepare your garden beds for planting, along with what your plants need to thrive.
Discussion leader: Sarah Defnet is a 35-year Poolesville resident and a manager of the Poolesville Community Garden. She grows fruit and vegetables organically year-round in 20+ raised beds at her Poolesville home. After belonging to a CSA for many years (Community Supported Agriculture farm) she learned how it was possible to grow a greater variety of food and gradually transitioned to growing much of her own food at home year-round.
