Celebrate Women’s History Month by designing and building a bridge of your own.
Did you know that women have been crucial in the history of bridge building? Emily Warren Roebling took over as project manager of the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge after her husband, the chief engineer, became ill. She learned all about engineering, and supervised the project for over a decade. Bridges come in many shapes and sizes, built from a variety of materials. What makes the strongest bridges? Find out by designing and building your own simple bridges out of a variety of household materials, then testing how much weight they can hold. This hands-on program will provide children with the opportunity to use their critical thinking and problem-solving skills to achieve a result.
We will provide all the materials for this program. Sponsored by Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, MD, Inc.
