Join us to practice conversational English and build community in a friendly, informal setting. All are welcome. Sessions led by volunteer facilitators from the community. No registration required.

Practice conversational English and build community in a friendly, informal setting with others from many different backgrounds. Sessions are led by volunteer facilitators from the community who guide conversation about everyday life, questions, and experiences.

All are welcome, whether you are just beginning to learn English or have been speaking it for years. You can participate as much as you feel comfortable, listen, share, and meet neighbors who are also practicing English.

No registration is required; drop in when you can.

By joining this MCPL program, you agree to abide by our rules of conduct. Library staff has the authority to remove you from this program if we deem your behavior to be inappropriate, to ensure the safety of staff and customers.

Library program attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.

If you plan to attend with a group of ten or more, please contact the branch at least one week before the program to discuss how your group might be accommodated.

Accommodation Requests

People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing should request English-language captioning or sign-language interpretation at least five days before the library-sponsored program they plan to attend. Contact the Assistant Facilities and Accessibility Program Manager at 240-777-0002 with all other accommodation requests.
