“Bird Walk” is a documentary that features the birds and birders that have flocked to Rockville’s RedGate Park.
Join us for a screening of "Bird Walk" and a discussion with local filmmaker Cintia Cabib in the first floor meeting room. The 25-minute film follows the grassroots campaign that helped preserve this defunct golf course as a public park.
“Bird Walk” premiered to a full house at Brookside Gardens in May 2024. Its D.C. premiere was at Busboys and Poets in June, which was sponsored by DC Bird Alliance, Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, DC Ecowomen, and the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital. Montgomery Parks hosted a screening of “Bird Walk” in October 2024 in conjunction with Birdability Week. In November 2024, the documentary had its European premiere at the Films for Future Festival, an environmental film festival in Zurich, Switzerland. “Bird Walk” had its Colorado premiere at the Colorado Environmental Film Festival in February 2025.
Cintia will be joined by Wayne Breslyn, founder of Friends of RedGate Park, who will talk about the organization’s environmental initiatives and its outreach efforts to increase park visitation and stewardship.
