Montgomery County Public Libraries is collaborating with the Jewish Council for the Aging (JCA) Heyman Interages Center for Read Across America Week, which this year is from March 2nd to 7th, 2025.
The JCA and MCPL invite families with children of all ages to join us at the Gaithersburg Library to share in their love of books by reading pieces from their favorite children’s stories. Readers will be selected on a first-come-first-served basis to share and read out loud to their fellow attendees. Reading aloud can boost brain development, vocabulary, memory, listening skills, and reading confidence. Participants may bring their own book or select one from the library. Readers will have five-minutes to read and share their story. Stories shared should be at a reading level appropriate for Preschool through 3rd Grade listeners.
This program is geared toward children in Preschool to 3rd Grade, but all families are welcome. No advanced registration needed. Participants will be chosen on a first-come-first-served basis, but all are welcome to attend and join in the love of reading by listening as we share our favorite stories.
