STEM at the Library: Do-It-Yourself DNA

Join us in celebrating Women's History Month with a lesson in extracting DNA from a strawberry!

Rosalind Franklin was a British chemist whose unsung contributions were integral to the discovery of the double-helix structure of DNA.

Join us for an afternoon of STEM, where we will learn about her important work and extract actual DNA from a strawberry! This hands-on program will provide children with the opportunity to use their critical thinking and problem-solving skills to achieve a result. 

This program is designed for children 8 years old and above.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.

Accommodation Requests

People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing should request English-language captioning or sign-language interpretation at least five days before the library-sponsored program they plan to attend.
