Bundle up and come learn how animals and people have adapted to survive in Earth's polar regions and how climate change affects their livelihoods. An interactive presentation, Q&A, story, and craft.
If you think it gets cold outside here...wait until you meet the people and animals who call the icy areas around the North and South Poles their home! What is it like to live there? How do they survive? How have they adapted to changing climate conditions, and what does the future of these regions look like? We'll discuss ice shelves, glaciers, penguins, polar bears, the Inuit people of the Arctic, and the scientists stationed in Antarctica, and learn about how adaptations to extreme conditions allowed them to survive--and even thrive--in polar environments, as well as the challenges they face from the impact of global climate change on their habitats. Recommended for ages 5-10, but older kids and family members welcome!
